THE KOSCIUSKO COUNTY COURTHOUSE
Recognition of the Kosciusko County Courthouse renovation was
deemed important by
the Kosciusko County
Historical Society. It is the
county's best known historical landmark, due to its central location within both Kosciusko County
and its county seat, Warsaw, and a fine
example of Second Empire architectural
style while serving as
center of Kosciusko County
Government. The concern of county officials
for this invaluable property
sends a strong message
of the need for preservation of outstanding public and
private buildings.
THE KOSCIUSKO COUNTY JAIL MUSEUM
Located in
downtown Warsaw, Indiana, this Gothic Revival Building was
designed by George
Garnsey and built by
Richard Epperson in 1870. The building
was listed in the National
Register of Historic Places in 1978 and currently serves as
the headquarters and museum
for the Society.
THE POUND STORE MUSEUM
Built in
1838, the Pound Store is located in the villiage of Oswego,
the site of the former Pottawatomie Indian villige and
home of Chief Musquabuck.
Of Greek Revival
style, the structure is the oldest
known commercial building in the County. The building has undergone extensive restoration and
now that it is completed, serves as a second museum for the Society.
THE TIPPECANOE RIVER BRIDGE
Built in 1897,
the Chinworth Bridge which spans the Tippecanoe River is
the county's only through-truss bridge. It was constructed
by the Bellefontaine Bridge
and Iron Company
and is now closed to traffic. The
Society takes an active
part in preserving this treasure.
A general membership picnic is held annually in the park adjacent
to the bridge.
