"OUR PURPOSE shall be to institute and encourage genealogical research, to collect and to preserve the materials of genealogy and history, and to spread genealogical information, especially that concerning Kosciusko County, Indiana." MEETINGS: The 3rd Wednesday of February, May, August and November, in the Old Jail Museum Library, Warsaw. The November meeting is the annual dinner. We begin at 6:30 PM for a half hour of sharing and helping, the regular meeting begins at 7 PM. Everyone is welcome. DUES: Membership in the Kosciusko County Historical Society is $15.00 a year. (Click on the appropriate words at left for a membership form.) Genealogy is a section of KCHS and we have no separate dues. As a society member you will receive the society newsletter The Thaddeus. BOOKS FOR SALE: We offer a large number of books for sale. NO GENEALOGY QUARTERLY: "Our Missing Links" is no longer available, however back issues can be obtained by order at $2.50 per issue or $10. for 4 issues. The newsletter was twenty-four pages, published quarterly with a complete surname index. We published this from 1977 to 2002. We are glad to receive ancestral charts, short family histories, Bible Records, diaries, etc. concerning your family with Kosciusko connections. Items received are placed in the surname files in the library. SURNAME INDEX CARDS: We maintain an alphabetical surname file for EACH of your Kosciusko County ancestors that you send to us. Be sure your name, address and the date are on each card. You may submit as many as you wish. Each card should only deal with one generation, i.e. one marriage and names of parents and children. A wife card should only reference the husband card and need not have all the same information. PIONEER FAMILIES: Did your ancestor settle in Kosciusko County before 1850? You can join the "Pioneer Families of Kosciusko County". Upon verification, a certificate will be awarded to the applicant showing both the pioneer and the recipient's name. If you are a direct descendant, send for your application form today, either by snail-mail at the address below, or by email using the button below so designated. PIONEER FAMILIES II: If your ancestors settled in Kosciusko County between January 1851 and Dec. 1870, you can become a member of Pioneer Families II. See the above paragraph. |
